Project Summary

KonnektAfrika is Nigeria's foremost and only true real-time multi-airline booking platform. This tool is guaranteed to take your agency business to the next level with near-zero risk, quicker response time to clients and, a more profitable agency operation that will remain undeniably unbeatable. A revolutionary tool to maximize profits and boost productivity. We've touched every aspect of your booking process just so you worry 10x less.



The Challenge/Statement Problem

The travel agent primarily has the problem of visiting EACH AIRLINE WEBPAGE individually to obtain Routes, Fares and Seat Availability (Time Wasting). You must open & fund individual eWallet for each airline.

  • Money in an Airline eWallet can never be withdrawn

  • eWallet is updated manually which is Time Wasting & Fraud.

  • eWallet can only be updated during working hours.

  • eWallet cannot be updated on Weekends, Holidays and after-business hours

  • Minimum Deposit applies per airline

  • Payment Gateway Charges!


Target Audience

The target audience is the travel agents - a person engaged in selling and arranging transportation, accommodations, tours, or trips for travellers.

Strategy

KonnektAfrika starts by developing a plan that will satisfy its target users who want to be able to search for flight tickets from different airlines, but ticket in bulk, fund individual wallet, no payment gateway charges etc. Making it as seamless as possible with colours that are easy on the eyes.

The Solution

Based on the information obtained from the pain points and the survey, I came up with the solution for KonnektAfrika, making the users aware of their need for a better service. Users that want to be able to search for flight tickets from different airlines, but ticket in bulk, fund individual wallet, no payment gateway charges etc.

Design Process

Empathize

It was important to learn from the existing users (Travel Agents) what their frustrations were. We set up an online survey and asked them to fill it out. Below are the responses and results.


What we discovered

  • Visiting each airline's webpage to book flights was a major point for travel agents

  • The features that will be important for them to have include: Seat availability, being able to pay at once, being able to manage their wallet being able to see fares, routes and manage bulk booking

  • They all agreed that a mobile app would help make things faster

  • They want to be able to manage bulk booking without going to the airline

  • Other list of challenges currently faced are: e-wallet management, poor customer service, payment gateway charges and refund policy

The method used in this process was Card sorting and Site map

Card sorting

We decided on the main categories of the website with a card-sorting session.

The main purpose of the card sorting session was to identify the likely features and evaluate on the information architecture. In relation to the website, we wanted the travel agent to understand konnektAfrika by ensuring the website's landing page was sectioned into the home, about, features, FAQ and contact. Hence prospective users can then log in or register to proceed to the dashboard page where they can perform all transactions, search for flights, book bulk flights, change flights, and seats etcetera.

The card sorting method used was both online and in-person

Prototype

  • The visual style followed was fresh, easy on the eyes and flat UI colours. What inspired the use of this style is the target audience - we wanted something less complicated, easy on the eye and visually consistent and pleasing.

  • The platforms designed for is Website and Mobile app

  • The final design reflects learning about the target users because we discovered from the surveys and questions that the users wanted something that was easy to use, consistent and efficient.

  • The design helps to achieve the business and user's goals of making sure that the problems of having multiple wallets, having to search for flights from different airlines, increasing gateway charges etc are eliminated. From the comfort of their laptop, Desktop, tab or mobile phone, users can search for flights across different airlines, buy tickets in bulk, use a wallet system that allows them to cash in and cash out, manage airline tickets, view transactions and airline tickets etc.
